the more people buy now in preparation for the nerf the higher they'll go now, so that when the nerf comes and the Next-Big-Thing(tm) comes along for UW farming so many people will be disappointed when they drop.
Oh the days when ity was 15k an ecto

Well when they nerf SF, half the GW population will quit and ectos will become less expensive.

Isn't Guild Wars a Game?
Not a place to spend mindless hours using the same skill?
If people quit because a skill got nerffed thats rediculous.
Mind you we will probably be better off without those people.
In my oppinion I wanna see them jump to 10k + just because it would remind me of when I started playing! ^^

As I have stated SEVERAL times on these threads, Ecto will NOT double in value in the long term. Most ecto people have, they have in storage. The amount of ecto actually floating around via the traders that actually affect the price is minuscule. The price will spike up after the nerf (it always does after an UW build is nerfed), it will not maintain a price jump for any forseeable time. There simply isn't enough ecto coming in to the market to reduce the value of the large hoard of ectos people already have a significant amount.
Especially since SO MANY people are going to be trying to manipulate and hoard the market speculatively like the OP. Overspeculation will mean this nerf won't have nearly the impact doomsayers are talking about.

Totally not true.
And if you quit because your pissed that you abused a flawed skill then you deserve to leave our fine game. To all who quit when SF is tanked, I say good riddance! We dont like your kind around here.

Prices now are about the same as they were before the Planes farm. It's all about hype and perception now, not the effectiveness of farming builds. SF perma was effective before it became popular, but it didn't drive prices down. What matters is how comfortable and efficient people feel about the current farming meta.
In other words, I see prices going up only because of the initial freakout, just like when Skeletons were added to UW.

The law of supply and demand states otherwise....
If many people stop doing uw .....Means less ectos on the market. If the demand doesnt fall off as much.....then ecto prices go up.

you are missing what the other guy said though. there are so many ectos just sitting there in people storages. the ecto prices that make up the market(the ones that are being bought and sold) are a very little part of the total ectos people have. when the price goes up the people with lots of ectos will go and sell them until it drives the price back down til people wont bother selling em anymore. i have close to 2 stacks in my dtorage just sitting there and i haven't bought ectos in like 3 years and i havnt sold any ectos in like 2 years. so if the price goes up so high i might actually go sell a few ectos and drive the price back down.

True that. That just means there will be a flood. What happens after a flood? Recovery. So for a short time if there is a flood of selloffs....price will drop, then tend to slowly work its ways back up as the demand once again outweighs the supply.

I just remember the diamond hoarding people had prior to GW:EN being released. The price spike occured... before the game was released, because so many people were speculating and trying to turn a profit (myself included).
But when GW:EN was released, diamonds went from being 5k to 100g in a few days. While I don't think ectos will be that bad, currently the same thing is going. The price is rising BEFORE the nerf happens, because so many people are anticipating the nerf occuring and are speculating to try to turn a profit. But if the nerf doesn't slow down farming significantly.... or a new SC build gets created, expect a crash in the market. Not as bad as the diamond market, but ectos will not be a get rich quick scheme like the OP is hoping for.

Why does that even bother you? If its because you can't do it its like saying I cant run so let shoot everyone who can. If you can do it but prefer not to than its up to you like you don't have to eat chocolate with swiss cheese if other ppl do.

If 600/smite takes a hit, it's going to have to be on the smite side. PS and SB are just too important in non-farming contexts to mess with.
